The last Crosstown swap between the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs was a blockbuster.
The latest is not as earth-shattering, but it still provides a big boost for the city's current World Series contender.
Thursday afternoon, the teams announced a deal that brought relief pitcher Ryan Tepera to the South Side in exchange for Class A pitcher Bailey Horn.

Tepera, perhaps best known by baseball fans for erroneously placing in the National League MVP vote last season, figures to provide a big-time boost to the White Sox bullpen, the greatest area of need for the team ahead of Friday's trade deadline. The 33-year-old right-hander owns a career-best 2.91 ERA this season, with 50 strikeouts in 43.1 innings.
The South Side relief corps is stocked with talented arms but hasn't lived up to its own sky-high preseason expectations. Talk of being elite and posting a perfect record with late leads has yielded to season-long stumbles and inconsistent performances from just about everyone out there besides All-Star closer Liam Hendriks and fireballing future starter Michael Kopech.
Tepera, a former teammate of Hendriks' during their stints with the Toronto Blue Jays, figures to add some dependability to that group and could slide into a prominent role late in games right away.

This won't make as much of a long-term difference as the previous trade between the two Crosstown rivals, when the White Sox landed Eloy Jiménez and Dylan Cease in exchange for José Quintana in 2017.
The move was the second made by Rick Hahn's front office Thursday, with the White Sox acquiring César Hernández from the division-rival Cleveland Indians earlier in the day. That trade plugged the hole at second base created by Nick Madrigal's season-ending injury, addressing the team's other big need. It wouldn't be surprising to see the White Sox front office try for more relief help before 3 p.m. Friday.
To clear room for Tepera on the 40-man roster, the White Sox transferred relief pitcher Evan Marshall from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
