Sox-Indians game postponed due to weather conditions

Snow on the field and unfavorable weather conditions in Cleveland forced the postponement of Wednesday night's scheduled game between the White Sox and Indians.

The two teams played in frigid conditions Tuesday night. But after snow accumulated, the second game of the brief two-game set was rescheduled for May 31.

The White Sox and Indians will play a pair of seven-inning games on that day, a traditional doubleheader between the two division rivals at Progressive Field.

The postponement is helpful to the White Sox as they try to plot their starting rotation for the next several days. The team needed a replacement for Lance Lynn on Wednesday but no longer do.

The White Sox figure to throw Dylan Cease, Dallas Keuchel and Lucas Giolito in this weekend's series against the Texas Rangers. The team has an off day Monday, and they expect Lynn back from the injured list for the start of the series against the Detroit Tigers.

With two doubleheaders now scheduled for next month, the White Sox will play 28 games in 27 days from mid May through the first week of June.
