While Thursday’s winner-take-all Wild Card game between the White Sox and A’s was a roller coaster ride for the South Siders, Tim Anderson was Mr. Consistent. He was so reliable that he actually broke an MLB postseason record.
Anderson became the first player in baseball history to start his playoff career by recording nine hits in his first three games, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Four other players had reached eight: Mark Grace in 1989, Dante Bichette in1995, Jim Edmonds in 2000 and Carlos Gonzalez in 2009.
Anderson has been the table setter for the White Sox offense for two years now. His 45 runs led the A.L. in 2020, while his .335 average in 2019 won him the MLB batting title.

With the young White Sox core intact for years to come, Anderson will likely have his sights set more postseason records in the future.
