The White Sox placed shortstop Tim Anderson on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right groin strain.

Anderson exited Friday's game against the Royals in the seventh inning with a sore right hip, the team said. His feet got tangled up on a ground ball for an error in the second inning and he slipped on the grass on another grounder behind second base in the third.

Anderson is hitting .333 (10-for-30) in seven games this season.

In a corresponding move, the White Sox recalled catcher Yermín Mercedes from their Schaumburg training site. Leury Garcia will fill in at shortstop in Anderson's absence.
