The White Sox will have to wait until Saturday to get their weekend series in Boston underway.

Inclement weather forced the postponement of the series opener Friday night. The White Sox and Red Sox will play a doubleheader on Sunday at Fenway Park.

The two teams are now set to open their four-game series Saturday afternoon, first pitch scheduled for shortly after 3 p.m. Central. The first game of Sunday's doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m. Central, with Game 2 following at 4 p.m. Central. Both of those games will be seven innings. The two teams wrap the series Monday morning, a 10 a.m. Central start with the Red Sox playing, as part of an annual position, on the Patriots' Day holiday in Boston.

The White Sox will start Dylan Cease in Saturday’s game. Dallas Keuchel will pitch one of the doubleheader games Sunday — the team is undecided on which one as of Friday evening — and the other starter that day is to be determined. Lucas Giolito will be the starter for the series finale Monday morning.

This is the White Sox' second weather-related postponement in the opening weeks of the 2021 season. The second game of their home series against the Kansas City Royals was rained out last weekend.
