The feel-good story of the 2018 White Sox season won't even be a contest.

What began as one of the scariest scenes in recent memory has the happiest of endings just six weeks later.

When White Sox relief pitcher Danny Farquhar takes the mound Friday night at Guaranteed Rate Park to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, it will mark what his own doctors called nothing short of a miracle.

Farquhar collapsed in the dugout late in the White Sox April 20 game against the Astros, no one knew what was coming next. He was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm that could have cost him his life. He was ushered to RUSH Unviersity Medical Center, where he remained until being discharged on May 7.

The following day he visited the White Sox clubhouse, with fellow reliever Nate Jones describing his teammate as a "walking miracle."

A few days later Farquhar shared a picture of him and his wife, Lexie, on Instagram, noting that he was "overhwhelmed with the love and support that was shown to me and my family these pas few weeks."

"It's more impactful, like one moment at a time and you really apprecaite life as it is," he told Good Morning America. "But it had to be all the prayers that everybody had for me. God has a plan and purpose; (I) still haven't figured it out yet but yeah, I'm very thankful to still be here."
