The play at the plate was very close, Royals catcher Cam Gallagher diving to try to tag Abreu as he slid in. Abreu was called safe on the field, and the replay review resulted in the call standing.

After the game, Royals manager Mike Matheny shared his opinion that the replay review ended with the incorrect call.

Indeed, the play was a tight one, and had Abreu been called out upon review, it wouldn't necessarily have been surprising.

But the White Sox were the ones getting on the plane happy, the Royals miffed over the replay review, the latest dose of controversy in the rivalry between these two AL Central foes.
