Sox-Twins series opener rained out, doubleheader July 19

The Chicago White Sox couldn't dodge the rain Monday.

The opening contest of a four-game set between the White Sox and the division-rival Minnesota Twins was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a straight doubleheader Monday, July 19, at Guaranteed Rate Field. The twin bill, starting at 4:10 p.m. that day, will feature two seven-inning affairs.

The White Sox just played two, sort of, Sunday, when they resumed their suspended game with the Seattle Mariners from Saturday afternoon before playing a seven-inning version of the originally scheduled contest.

Lucas Giolito will start Tuesday's game against the Twins. The White Sox will take time to decide how the rest of their rotation will line up after Tuesday.

According to the White Sox, fans with tickets for Monday's postponed game can use the value as a gift certificate to any future regular-season home game. Tickets for Monday's postponed game do not transfer to the July 19 straight doubleheader or any future date. Fans must exchange or purchase new tickets to attend any future game, including the doubleheader vs. Minnesota.
