Will ad logos be placed on NHL sweaters?

In order to increase revenue, the NBA announced last month that they had tentatively approved a plan to put advertising on players' game jerseys for the 2013-14 season.

If one major sports league is willing to do it, could others follow suit -- especially the NHL?

SI.com warns hockey fans not to be surprised if the idea of ad logos on NHL sweaters becomes a reality within the next few years.

Advertisements on hockey jerseys isn't an out-of-the-box idea. Minor leagues already do it as well as several European leagues.

It would appear to be a no-brainer if the goal is strictly money. But the SI.com article linked above runs down several pros and cons of such a drastic decision.

One of the most intriguing cases is detectability. Any ad would be difficult to see while action is taking place due to the quickness of the game. However, frequent stoppages in play allow the jersey more on-screen time than in other sports.

The Blackhawks sweater -- especially the red version -- has been considered one of the best jerseys in all of sports for a long time. How would you feel if company ads began to show up on them?
