Florida State turns its defensive attention to Irish

The less said about Florida State’s 57-50 win against Texas A&M, the better. So let’s speculate about Sunday’s showdown with No. 2 seed Notre Dame, shall we?

The Seminoles’ offense didn’t do anything flashy vs. A&M and was largely unimpressive, but that’s not their game. Defense is. And that defense could prove to be a big problem for the Irish.

Despite defensive stalwart Chris Singleton only playing 16 minutes, he figures to be fully healthy for Sunday. His 5-point, 4-foul afternoon was mostly a factor of rust after missing nearly a month due to a broken foot. With him available to roam the middle and creep out on the perimeter to challenge shots, Notre Dame could have issues scoring.

But it’ll have to be aggressive, in-your-face defense to do it. The ‘Noles can’t just play slow and hope Notre Dame doesn’t score.

That doesn’t work vs. Mike Brey’s team.
