Akoy Agau didn’t see much playing time during his year-plus at Louisville, averaging just 4.8 minutes per game in 22 appearances. With that, and the fact that increased playing time didn’t seem all that likely, Agau made the decision in mid-December to transfer. Wednesday afternoon it was reported by that Agau has decided to join John Thompson III’s program at Georgetown.

In discussing his commitment to the Big East program, Agau made note of Georgetown’s success in developing big men as one of the reasons why he decided to become a Hoya. Agau also considered Marquette, and he took a visit to Nebraska last month as well.

From a depth standpoint the addition of Agau could be a good one for Georgetown, with both Joshua Smith and Mikael Hopkins being seniors. Of Georgetown’s five current freshmen four are front court players, and they’ll add Marcus Derrickson and Jesse Govan to the program next season.
