For the second time in the span of a month, Texas A&M is losing a highly-regarded recruit to a transfer.

Elijah Thomas, a top 30 prospect in the Class of 2015, is leaving the program, a source confirmed to He was averaging 3.8 points and 2.5 boards this season, but he saw just 16 minutes of action over the last five games. He hadn’t attempted a field goal since the win over Texas in the Bahamas on Nov. 25th, and in Saturday’s win over Kansas State, he was not even on the A&M bench.

Head coach Billy Kennedy, at the time, attributed it to “personal issues” and said that the program expected him back soon.

Thomas was part of a loaded freshman class for the Aggies, but he had been forced to the bench once Jalen Jones returned from a four game suspension. Another freshman, Tyler Davis, and sophomore Tony Trocha-Morales have passed Thomas on the depth chart.

In November, sophomore point guard Alex Robinson, a former top 100 recruit, announced that he would be transferring out of the program.

Texas A&M is 8-2 this season and ranked No. 24 in the country.
