Penn State capitalizes on Indiana’s late-game turnover woes (VIDEO)
Holding an 11-point lead with just over three minutes remaining, Indiana looked to be in good position to avoid a defeat that would move them closer to the Big Ten cellar. Take care of the basketball and the Hoosiers likely hold off Penn State, which entered the game 3-8 in Big Ten play.
Unfortunately for Tom Crean his players didn’t do that, resulting in a 13-1 Penn State run to end the game. Tim Frazier’s crossover and layup with just over six seconds remaining capped the rally, giving the Nittany Lions the 66-65 victory. Now 4-7 in conference play Indiana finished the game with 20 turnovers, losing the ball twice on inbounds passes in the game’s final 15 seconds.
Frazier made just three of his ten field goal attempts, but he made the play Penn State needed in the end. The Nittany Lions deserve credit for not folding when trailing by 11, but this is a defeat that stings for Indiana.
