Purdue forward given medical hardship waiver
Purdue received some positive news this week as forward Jacquil Taylor has been granted a medical hardship waiver for missing most of last season, according to a release from the school.
The 6-foot-9 Taylor played in six games for the Boilers last season and regains his freshman year of eligibility, meaning he still has four more years to play college basketball. Through the leg and shin injuries that Taylor battled that forced him to sit out, the freshman hit the weight room hard as he’s rehabbed from injury. According to the release, Taylor has added 25 pounds of muscle and is now up to 240 pounds.
During his original freshman season, Taylor played 42 total minutes and shut things down for the season after the Dec. 10 game against Arkansas State. Taylor totaled 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks during those minutes last season and he provides an additional backup interior player for a deep Purdue front court.
