Recruiting rundown: ESPNHS Invitational showcases stars


The “real” game environment for the high school players this week is the ESPNHS National High School Invitational, runs Thursday through Saturday, and features eight loaded boys teams, is just that.

Thursday’s four games start from 2 PM (ET) through 8 PM (ET). Friday’s semifinals are set for ESPN2 at 11:30 AM (ET) and 1:30 PM, while the title will be decided on Saturday on ESPN at 2 PM (ET).

Many college prospects and signees will be present in the event, which will feature games televised on the ESPN family of networks. Some participants worth keeping an eye, for college basketball fans are as follows:

Dominic Artis (Oregon-signee), Winston Shepard (San Diego State commit), Anthony Bennett (pictured; see here), Brandon Ashley (Arizona signee), Christian Wood (UNLV commit, junior), Amedeo Della Valle (considering several high-major programs).

2. Montrose Christian (Md.)
Justin Anderson (Virginia signee), Ishmail Wainwright (former Missouri commit, touted junior).

3. Montverde Academy (Fla.)
Michael Frazier (Florida signee), Kasey Hill (Florida commit), Landry Nnoko (Clemson signee), Patricio Garino (George Washington signee).

4. St. Benedict’s (N.J.)
Melvin Johnson (Miami signee), Tyler Ennis (top-10 junior point guard), Isaiah Briscoe (top-25 national freshman).

5. Blanche Ely (Fla.)
Clide Geffard (undecided).

6. La Lumiere (Ind.)
Obij Aget (New Mexico signee), Antonio Drummond (Southern Illinois signee), Hanner Perea (Indiana signee), Jay Simpson (Purdue signee), Raphael Davis (Purdue signee), Jalen James (Illinois commit).

7. Ravenscroft (N.C.)
Anton Gill (Louisville junior commit), Isaac Copeland and Marcus Bryan (touted junior forwards).

8. Coolidge (D.C.)
