New Mexico will be without starting guard Hugh Greenwood against Marquette on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Greenwood has been battling a wrist injury for a couple weeks. He initially injured in when the Lobos took on New Mexico State in their first matchup on December 4th. It’s his right wrist, his shooting wrist. Greenwood took seven total shots in games against NMSU, Cincinnati and Kansas.

He didn’t play in New Mexico’s loss to the Aggies on Tuesday.

Missing Greenwood really hurts the Lobos, as their biggest issue this season has been identifying role players.

“People don’t realize how important Hugh is to our entire structure to be able to slow everything down, set everything up, keep everyone composed, bring everyone together in the huddles,” big man Cameron Bairstow said after the loss on Tuesday. “He’s really a good on-court leader. That’s his biggest attribute to this team. We really did miss that today.”
