Three-star Class of 2016 big man will decide between two on Friday
It’s getting near the end in the recruitment of three-star Class of 2016 center Mamadou Diarra. The 6-foot-8 power forward from New York is deciding between two schools on Friday. Diarra announced on Twitter that two schools are still in the running.
Diarra runs with the NY Jayhawks in the Under Armour Association and is averaging 8 points and 8 rebounds per game in eight games this spring. He’s also shown a bit of an ability to protect the rim at 1.4 blocks per game. Regarded as a three-star prospect, according to Rivals, Diarra will play as a post-grad season at Woodstock Academy after playing at Putnam Science this past season.
Neither UConn nor VCU own a commitment from the Class of 2016 and this would be a positive early recruit for both programs to get the ball rolling in that class. With the Rams now being coached by new head man Will Wade, if he could beat UConn for a big man, it would be a nice, early recruiting win in his tenure.
