One day after falling short in its pursuit of one 2015 guard in Antonio Blakeney, the Missouri basketball program landed a verbal commitment from Oak Hill Academy point guard Terrence Phillips according to Evan Daniels of The 5-foot-10 Phillips is the younger brother of current Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings.

Phillips is Missouri head coach Kim Anderson’s third commitment in the Class of 2015, with guard Cullen VanLeer and forward Kevin Puryear both having signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period in mid-November.

With graduate transfer Keith Shamburger in his final year of eligibility, the addition of Phillips gives Missouri additional depth on the perimeter with he and VanLeer joining Wes Clark, Tramaine Isabell, Montaque Gill-Caesar and Namon Wright next season.

“Terrence Phillips was one of the best available senior point guards left on the board, and he should give Missouri a tough perimeter defender and steady presence with the ball in his hands,” recruiting analyst Scott Phillips said of Missouri’s newest commitment.

“Phillips isn’t the dynamic playmaker his brother is, but he keeps it simple and has a high-running motor. His leadership and defensive ability should help the Tigers immediately.”
