Yeah, Northwestern can shoot

Northwestern’s not an elite program. But it’s offense? That qualifies.

The Wildcats showcased its shooting during a 74-60 win Wednesday over Michigan (27 of 56 shots, mostly because they went cold late), with swingman John Shurna doing most of the work (24 points on 8 of 14 from the floor).

But that doesn’t fully illustrate Northwestern’s offensive strength. As John Templon writes at, the Wildcats are one of six D-I teams who feature every player with an offensive rating of at least 100.

The others: Kansas, Kentucky, Washington, St. Mary’s and Louisville.

But that was heading into Wednesday’s games. After Kentucky’s flop at Alabama, that number may be down to five.
