Zach Tomaselli reportedly admits lying, and ‘never met Bernie Fine in my life’
A day after being sentenced to three years in prison for sexually abusing a boy in Maine, Zach Tomaselli admitted he lied about his role in the Bernie Fine sexually molestation case.
Tomaselli, 23, told Michael Benny of CNYCentral.com that he “never met Bernie Fine in my life” and fabricated his role in the allegations against the former Syracuse men’s basketball assistant.
“I am sick of it. I lied. End of story … I am a sociopath,” Tomaselli wrote in an email to Benny. He had claimed that Fine molested him in Pittsburgh in 2002.
Tomaselli had admitted doctoring emails from police and about his school attendance records.
More on the Bernie Fine case
Tomaselli’s allegation was the only one that fell within the statute of limitations that would’ve allowed a case against Fine, who was fired by the school in November. Now, only Bobby Davis and Mike Lang remain among the four men who claimed Fine sexually abused them.
Fine has denied the allegations all along.
