Slated for a redshirt season this year, true freshman Malcolm Creer agreed to burn said redshirt after Colorado’s leading rusher went down with a season-ending injury earlier this month.
A week after making his first appearance of the year, Creer’s season is over.
In the Buffs’ loss to Arizona State, the running back suffered a torn MCL and likely a torn ACL as well. Suffice to say, with just three games remaining, Creer’s season is over just seven days after it officially started.
Even Creer’s head coach is having a hard time coming to grips with this plot twist.
“He’s done,” first-year coach Jon Embree said. “Unbelievable. The poor kid.”
Creer was a three-star member of Embree’s first recruiting class at CU out of Pacific Palisades, Calif.
