The depth behind Marcus Mariota at quarterback continues to get thinner and thinner.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Jake Rodrigues had decided to transfer out of the Oregon football program. Saturday, it was reported by 247Sports.com that fellow backup Damion Hobbs (pictured) would be doing the same.
The school has yet to confirm or announce either personnel development.
Rodrigues, along with Jeff Lockie, served as the primary backups to Mariota in 2013. Hobbs was a three-star member of the Ducks’ 2013 recruiting class, rated as the No. 26 dual-threat quarterback in the country coming out of high school in Cedar Hill, Tex. He took a redshirt as a true freshman.
With the twin departures, UO has just two quarterbacks on its roster behind Mariota: Lockie and walk-on Taylor Alie (no relation). Morgan Mahalak , a four-star member of the Ducks’ latest recruiting class and rated as the No. 11 pro-style quarterback in the country, will join the team in time for the start of summer camp as well.
