Baylor University has announced it has reached a settlement with two women who claimed to be sexually assaulted by Baylor football players in 2012.
The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed, but this should mean Baylor will avoid any future legal battles with the two women. Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com reports neither woman previously filed a lawsuit against the university, and reaching a settlement before such an action takes place means they never will. That is noteworthy because these two women had not been previously connected to any of the previously reported sexual assault concerns Baylor has gone through recently.
One of the women reaching a settlement with Baylor also claimed to have been physically assaulted by a Baylor football player in 2013, adding another wrinkle to what continues to be a troubling story out of Waco.
The names of the players connected to these allegations have not been revealed. Baylor interim president David E. Garland did confirm nobody connected to these incidents is associated with the university anymore.
