Best call: Cal back makes NFL jump official

As expected, Cal running back Jahvid Best announced this evening that he will leave school a year early and make himself available for the 2010 NFL draft.

Best made the announcement during a conference call with the media this evening.

“Frankly I kept praying about it. It was kind of a feeling, a gut feeling, that’s how I make my decision,” Best said. “I feel like I’m ready to play in the NFL and I can be successful.

It’s always been a dream of mine. I’ve always had my eye set on making it to the NFL. That’s always been my goal. When I saw myself having success (at Cal), I knew it was becoming a tangible goal.”

Best missed the final four games of the 2009 season with head and back injuries suffered during a November game, but still rushed for 867 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also added four TD receptions for good measure.
