Buffs’ George Frazier found passed out behind wheel, arrested

See, even as the recent headlines suggest otherwise, it’s not just Florida State football players who find themselves on the wrong side of the law.

Case in point: Colorado’s George Frazier. The Buffaloes’ two-way player, the Boulder Daily Camera is reporting, was arrested on multiple charges in connection to an intersection incident very early Sunday morning. Specifically, Frazier was found passed out behind the steering wheel of his vehicle... at an intersection... with the vehicle still in gear, although his foot was on the brake. (Safety first!)

All of that netted the 20-year-old Frazier an arrest for suspicion of suspicion of driving under the influence, driving under the influence per se, underage possession of alcohol and a traffic violation. From the Daily Camera‘s account of what led up to the arrest, including that old I-had-just-one-occifer line:

At 3 a.m Sunday, an officer on routine patrol came up on a car stopped on 27th Way just before the intersection with Baseline Road, according to Boulder police spokeswoman Laurie Ogden.

The officer watched the car remain in the intersection through one light cycle before initiating a traffic stop.

The officer approached the vehicle and found Frazier asleep at the wheel, with his foot on the brake and the transmission in drive. The officer tried to wake Frazier up and eventually had to nudge him to get him to wake up, Ogden said.

Frazier told the officer he had one small alcoholic beverage, but the officer said Frazier was slurring his speech and had a blood-alcohol level of .111, according to police. He also at one point let his foot off the brake while he was talking to the officer, causing the car to roll backwards, police said.

The incident prompted a public response from head football coach Mike MacIntyre.

“We certainly don’t condone George’s actions, of which he is taking full responsibility for, nor do we approve of minors in possession,” MacIntyre said in his statement. “We have strict team policies against this kind of behavior and his discipline will be handled internally.”

Frazier played in 12 games as a redshirt freshman in 2014, and lined up at both fullback and defensive end. At the former position, he carried the ball five times for four yards and a touchdown. He also caught five passes out of the backfield, three of which resulted in touchdowns. Defensively, Frazier totaled 15 tackles and three quarterback pressures.
