Canes put on first-quarter air show

Not that anyone’s actually seeing it live and in person, though.

Regardless, and coming off a career-high 436 yards in last week’s overtime win over Georgia Tech, Miami quarterback Stephen Morris has thrown for 271 yards and three touchdowns in the first quarter of the Hurricanes’ game against North Carolina State. As a team, the Canes have totaled 304 yards of total offense, and the two teams combined for 514 yards of first-quarter offense.

Unfortunately for The U, one of Morris’ five incompletions -- in 17 attempts -- resulted in an end-zone interception that turned into a Wolfpack offensive touchdown on the very first play of the second quarter.

Miami had scored 23 straight points to go up 23-7 -- they were up by 19 against Georgia Tech last week before surrendering that lead -- but the Wolfpack touchdown cut the lead to 23-14.
