Crist’s decision between Badgers, Jayhawks imminent?

For those waiting on pins and needles for the where and when of Dayne Crist‘s transfer decision, you shouldn’t have to wait much longer.

According to the South Bend Tribune, the former Notre Dame quarterback is making a previously reported visit to Wisconsin that began Thursday morning. Following that visit, the Tribune writes that Crist is expected to choose between the Badgers and Kansas “before the weekend.”

Crist visited the Jayhawks earlier this week, as well as taking a trip to Div. 1-A (FCS) Delaware. The latter program is apparently out of the mix as Crist has whittled his transfer to-do list down to two.

In addition to Crist’s visit to Lawrence, new KU head coach Charlie Weis -- who recruited Crist to the Irish when he was the head coach -- returned the favor, showing up in South Bend Wednesday to continue his recruiting pitch. KU has been the prohibitive favorite to land Crist almost as soon as Weis was officially named as the Jayhawks’ new head coach exactly a week ago today.

Earlier this month, Irish head coach Brian Kelly confirmed that Crist had asked for and been granted a release from his ND scholarship in order to transfer and use his final season of eligibility at another football program. In addition to the aforementioned schools, Utah and San Diego State had also been listed as potential transfer destinations.
