Has Dennis Norfleet‘s situation at Michigan finally come to an end?
UM released its updated football roster Wednesday, and, per mlive.com, Norfleet’s name was not included. It’s not yet officially official that the two sides have parted ways, but it is a significant sign that that’s the direction it’s headed -- and seems to have been headed for a couple of months even as the situation has only gotten murkier as time has passed.
Back in mid-May, reports surfaced that Norfleet had been dismissed from the football program. A day later, UM clarified that Norfleet had been suspended, not dismissed, with additional reports intimating that the issue or issues were related to academics. A couple of days later Norfleet apologized for… for whatever it is that’s going on in his life that’s led to the uncertainty.
Late last month, Norfleet was given permission to speak to Div. II Tuskegee University. Around that same time, Jim Harbaugh stated that there was “a plan in place” for Norfleet’s return to the Wolverines.
Norfleet is the school’s all-time leader in kick returns and kick return yards, so his departure would diminish UM’s returning production on special teams.
