Donald Brown gets booted by the Herd -- again

With just a handful of spring practice sessions remaining, Marshall’s depth in the secondary has taken a slight but not-so-unexpected hit thanks to an apparent off-field issue.

In a press release, the Her announced that safety Donald Brown “did not meet the expectations and standards of Marshall Football, therefore he will not return to the program.” No reason was given for the dismissal.

This is actually the second time in less than a year that Brown’s been summarily dismissed by the program; back in July of last year, Brown was booted following an arrest for domestic violence. His second known chance lasted all of three weeks or so as he was just reinstated -- on a tentative basis -- late last month.

We’re going to go ahead and assume that there’s no chance of another reinstatement, tentative or otherwise.

Brown was, obviously, not with the program in 2011, but started all 12 games in 2010 and finished tied for the team lead in interceptions with three. The Frostproof, Fla., product’s 75 tackles were good fourth that season as well.
