Projected Position: Defensive End

Quick Take: They don’t make them much bigger than Blankeship, who keeps growing. The type of body and rugged player that fits perfectly as a 3-4 defensive end, Blankenship has enough athleticism to play effectively as a pass rusher or run stopper.

Likely a developmental player that’ll spend the year adding a coat of armor, Blankenship was an early target by Notre Dame, a match made in heaven for a kid and family that grew up cheering for the Irish.

What he means to Irish: Blankenship adds depth at a defensive end position with a lot of question marks. He’s a comparable prospect to Chase Hounshell, though we haven’t seen what that means with Hounshell’s career slowed by multiple shoulder surgeries.
