Faxes In: Jimmy Byrne

St. Ignatius (Cleveland, OH)

Measurables: 6-4, 285

Accolades: Team USA U-19 team, two-time D-I AP All-Ohio team, Consensus 4-Star recruit

Impressive Offers: Ohio State, Michigan State, Illinois, West Virginia

Projected Position: Offensive Guard

Quick Take: A three-year starter at St. Ignatius, Byrne is a perfect profile player for the Irish. Expected to play guard or center, Bryne’s a young guy who Notre Dame will be very patient with as he develops.

Shows all the things Harry Hiestand and the Irish staff are looking for, plays with passion, aggression, and good athleticism. For those that are fans of the RKG term, it certainly applies to Byrne.

What he means to Irish: Add another top-shelf recruit to the offensive line depth chart. After seeing the depth chart get perilously thin, the 2014 haul has the Irish bringing in what could be the best class in the country along the offensive line in back-to-back seasons.

Obligatory YouTube highlight clip: Here’s Byrne’s Signing Day video. Massive props for bringing out the bicep curls to open things up.
