The once-promising career of Elijah Fields at Pittsburgh has come to an end after he was dismissed from the team by head coach Dave Wannstedt, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting.
Apparently, the final straw for Wannstedt came when a video appeared on Fields’ Twitter account, showing the safety/linebacker drinking and partying with friends. The account has since been deleted.
If that were an isolated incident, it would likely have not led to Fields being on the receiving end of Wannstedt’s boot. That, however, has not been the case.
Fields was suspended for the entire 2007 season due to violating team policy. He had been in and out of Wannstedt’s doghouse ever since according to the paper.
The Post-Gazette reports that Fields, who was moving from safety to linebacker this year, will finish out the semester at Pitt before transferring to a lower-level division of college football.
