Four-star QB for A&M chosen fourth overall in MLB draft

Quarterback Kohl Stewart is currently a four-star member of Texas A&M’s 2013 signing class. Whether or not Stewart will officially become an Aggie should be made official shortly.

Stewart, a two-sport athlete from St. Pius X high school in Houston, was drafted fourth overall by the Minnesota Twins in last night’s MLB draft. Now, Stewart has a decision to make and all signs point to him signing with the Twins.

He’s going to go (with the Twins),” Mark Stewart, Kohl’s father, said via the Houston Chronicle. “You don’t get drafted fourth and not go. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime offer. He looked at me when they made the call and said, ‘Dad, I’m going to accept the (Twins’) offer.’ He’s made the decision, and he will talk to (A&M coach Kevin Sumlin).”

Stewart himself echoed those sentiments during a teleconference with reporters.

“The Twins, they picked me, and they expect me to sign,” Stewart said. “I’m not going to say 100 percent for sure, but I’m looking forward to joining the Twins organization. … I don’t want to say anything or pull anybody the wrong way, but I look forward to being a Twin.”

Unless there’s a sudden change of heart regarding the status quo, it would would be a huge surprise if Stewart suited up for the Aggies this fall.
