Hints that Kyle Parker’s run as Clemson’s QB might be done

We interrupt your regularly-scheduled expansion/sanction program for the following football break...

It’s been less than a week since Kyle Parker, Clemson baseball player, was selected in the first round of the MLB draft.

The status of Kyle Parker, the Clemson football player, has not yet been determined. However, the Anderson Independent Mail is doing some reading between the lines and has determined -- based on Parker’s comments -- that the Tigers will have a new starting quarterback when the 2010 season commences.

“The biggest thing is, whenever I came to college, I always wanted to play a professional sport,” Parker told the paper. “If (baseball is) what it turns out to be, I think I have an excellent opportunity. You don’t see too many guys picked that early and makes me realize what a great opportunity it is. If I end up just focusing on one, then that’s what’s going to happen. But I’m going to sit down after the season and figure it out, run all the numbers and see if it’s worth it or not.”

The numbers that Parker will run will likely include at least a “2" followed by six zeros in guaranteed money from the Colorado Rockies.

Which will likely mean a run from college football to professional baseball. And the end of his brief but successful run as the starting quarterback at Clemson University.
