The excitement of National Signing Day managed to temporarily mask the concern surrounding the bizarre hospitalization of 13 Iowa players suffering from exertional rhabdomyolysis -- even if it was just for a day.
A new development, however, has allowed the story to rear its ugly head once more.
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics are firing three, unidentified employees after an investigation confirmed they inappropriately breached the medical records of the hospitalized Iowa football players.
Two more will be suspended for five days.
UI spokesperson Tom Moore did not say which players were affected by the breach (duh), but did acknowledge that they were notified.
Moore also said that federal regulators have been contacted, and that they may pursue additional jail time and/or fines.
