Less than a month after suffering what was initially thought to be a likely season-ending injury, Kolton Browning is ready to take the field once again for Louisiana-Monroe.
On ULM’s depth chart released Friday, Browning is not only listed but is slotted in the No. 1 spot. The fifth-year senior will make his first start against Georgia State today since suffering the injury in a Sept. 28 loss to Tulane.
Browning received medical clearance to return to games yesterday morning.
“Kolton Browning has made dramatic progress, and with the practice work that he had this week and the physician’s report this morning, I am comfortable with him being the starter in tomorrow’s game,” head coach Todd Berry said in a statement.
Browning, the 2012 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year, finally tore a quad muscle in that game after dealing with pain in the area the first four games of the season. At the time, Berry stated it was “doubtful” Browning would be able to return this season.
Sophomore Brayle Brown has started the past two games in place of Browning, with the Warhawks winning one (Texas State) and losing one (Western Kentucky).
