Lane Kiffin trolls Vols via Twitter

Even as his time in Knoxville is in the distant past, Lane Kiffin simply can’t help himself when it comes to taking a jab at his former employer.

An article appeared on the GridironNow.com website late last month noting that Tennessee is loaded top-level talent, but they’re leaving the state in droves. Apparently this piece just came to the attention of the former UT head coach and current Alabama offensive coordinator, who took the time Monday to retweet the story and emphasize its theme.

Kiffin was the head coach of the Volunteers for one wild season in 2009, leaving controversy in his wake when he bolted Rocky Top after 13 months for the USC job.

Despite top recruits “fleeing” the state, Butch Jones is more than holding his own on the recruiting trail. The Vols’ class this past year was 14th nationally, one year after pulling in the fourth-rated class. The 2017 class is currently ranked 15th.

That recruiting success has played a significant role in the Vols being the overwhelming favorites to win the SEC East this season.
