As expected, Louisville will be down a starting member of its defense for the postseason.
Charlie Strong confirmed during the Russell Athletics Bowl coaches press conference Friday that George Durant will not play in Saturday’s bowl game against Miami. There was no reason given for Durant’s non-participation.
Durant was arrested on multiple traffic charges in mid-October, although that incident wouldn’t appear to have any impact on his availability two months later.
Strong’s confirmation comes after Durant intimated on his Twitter account Thursday night that he would not be on the field.
“I wish my team the best on Saturday. Y’all boys pull off the victory,” the tweet read.
The redshirt senior started seven games this season and was listed as the starter on the postseason depth chart. Strong gave no indication who will replace Durant in the starting lineup, although Champ Lee is listed as Durant’s backup.
