The fall from grace for the offensive MVP of the 2011 BcS title game continues with official confirmation of Michael Dyer‘s new, apparently non-football landing spot.
During a radio interview Sunday, the president of Arkansas Baptist College, Dr. Fitzgerald Hill, announced that the former Auburn and Arkansas State running back will attend the school this season and “work towards an associate’s degree.” Hill, however, confirmed that Dyer “will not play football for the Buffaloes” this season.
Or likely any other season for that matter as the back will be eligible for early entry into the 2013 NFL draft.
After rushing for more than 1,000 yards as a true freshman during Auburn’s title-winning 2010 season and then for more than 1,200 yards as a sophomore last season, Dyer was granted his release by Auburn in early January and transferred two weeks later to Arkansas State, where he was reunited with former AU offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. A little over a week after his final appeal for immediate eligibility was denied by the NCAA, Dyer was dismissed by ASU following a traffic stop that yielded a gun and marijuana.
Dyer has also been connected to Prairie View A&M since his ASU dismissal.
