Mississippi State set to break ground on stadium renovation
Mississippi State’s stadium is getting a face lift... an $80 million face lift, to be more specific.
Speaking on the Bo Bounds radio show in Jackson, Mississippi State athletic director Scott Stricklin anticipated the school will break ground on an expansion of Davis Wade Stadium later this summer or early fall.
“We’ll open those [bids] in a couple of weeks and hopefully a couple of weeks after that we’ll reward a bid,” Stricklin said. “Soon after that you’re looking at groundbreaking, but it’s hard to pin down a timeline on that right now. But it’s close, which is obviously very exciting.”
The expansion is expected to bring capacity above 50,000. Additionally, a $25 million football complex is expected to be completed in January.
