Shortly after a Rose Bowl loss to Oregon, Wisconsin running back Montee Ball has reportedly made his decision about his future and will make an announcement in the coming days.
In an interview with the USA Today Tuesday, Ball said “Basically, I looked myself in the mirror and told myself what I needed to do for me, what I needed to do for my family and for my teammates.”
While Ball has kept his comments about his future vague, 247Sports ($) is reporting that Ball has decided to stay at Wisconsin for another year. If that is indeed the case, it would be a surprising move. Ball led the country in rushing this season with 1,923 and had 39 total touchdowns.
You know how we feel about RBs here at CFT. If you’re on a hot streak like Ball and your draft evaluation comes back even remotely good enough, the shelf life of the position in the NFL is enough that just about any player should go ahead and make the jump.
By the same coin, however, we’re also advocates that whatever Ball decides his own, and who are we to have any say otherwise?
