The NCAA has officially released the bowl season for the 2009 season.Bowl games will kick off with two games on December 19th -- the New Mexico Bowl and the St. Petersburg Bowl -- and conclude with the BCS National Championship Game in the Rose Bowl on January 7th. The 34 bowl games will be played over a 20 game period. As The Wiz of Odds points out, that’s just over 56% of the 120 Division I-A teams that will go bowling this year.For conferences like the Big Ten and Pac-10 that don’t play conference championship games, that’s 47 days between the final Saturday of conference play and the national championship game.It’s awfully hard to believe that the NCAA couldn’t figure out a way to make a playoff work...
