This past Sunday, both the Miami Herald and the Tampa Tribune reported that former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Robert Marve was considering transferring to at least four schools, including the Oklahoma Sooners. In fact, The Tribune story contained quotes from Marve’s high school coach, Robert Weiner, who told the paper that Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Texas Tech and the University of South Florida were schools under consideration. The Herald took it a step further, quoting Marve’s father Eugene as saying his son was considering all of the schools mentioned above, with the exception of Texas Tech. Eugene Marve also told the paper that Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops had called and that the Sooners were a factor. So, what exactly is the problem?According to the Tulsa World, the Sooners have no interest in Marve and are not recruiting him.Citing an “excellent” source”, the Oklahoma paper says Stoops “has not had any contact with (Marve), those reports are absolutely false. They (Sooners) like the quarterbacks they have."There’s really no gray area here. Bottom line is, somebody’s wrong/lying.Either the Marve camp -- including the father and the high school coach -- is tossing some feces against the wall, or the “excellent” unnamed source is.For the time being, I’ll go with the people who have the balls to attach their names to the story publicly as being the ones in full disclosure mode.
