According to a press release issued by the school, North Carolina running backs A.J. Blue and Jamal Womble suffered injuries in the win over Georgia Southern and are facing surgery.
Womble, a redshirt freshman, fractured his right wrist covering the game’s opening kickoff, while Blue, a true freshman, injured his left knee during the fourth quarter.
Both Blue and Womble will undergo surgery Friday at UNC Hospitals, and their status will be updated following the procedures.
