Portrait of Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram to be unveiled at Bryant museum

I think there’s still part of me that is baffled by the fact that Alabama, with its lengthy and successful history in college football, had zero Heisman Trophy winners before Mark Ingram.

Well, now they do, and they plan on immortalizing him. Because, let’s face it, Alabama does that better than just about anybody (albeit much to the chagrin of Bryant Gumbel).

Tonight at the Paul W. Bryant museum, Ingram and ‘Bama coach Nick Saban will unveil a portrait of Ingram entitled “Take It By Force” that will hang next to Alabama’s copy of Ingram’s Heisman Trophy.

According to the Birmingham News, “the unveiling is being sponsored with the Mark Ingram Foundation, which works with children whose parents are in prison.”

Ingram was drafted in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.
