One of the hottest names on the coaching carousel the past couple of years, Mario Cristobal was abruptly canned by FIU earlier this month.
Less than a week later, though, Cristobal is already drawing interest from schools in search of their next head coach.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Cristobal interviewed for the Temple vacancy Saturday night. The Owls are looking to replace Steve Addazio, who left last week to take the Boston College job.
Cristobal would’ve been at least the third coach interviewed by Temple Saturday, joining New York Giants assistant Matt Rhule and current Owls defensive coordinator Chuck Heater. Additionally, the Inquirer reports, Temple athletic director Bill Bradshaw interviewed Ohio State running backs coach Stan Drayton Sunday.
Miami (Fla.) defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio is expected to be at least one of the candidates interviewing with Bradshaw Monday. D’Onofrio, a former Temple coordinator, is reportedly being pushed for the job by former Owls and current Hurricanes head coach Al Golden.
