Monday, UCF released its spring prospectus and, interestingly, quarterback Bo Schneider was not a part of the team’s roster. A day later, we reportedly know why.
According to the website PittsburghPostgame.com, Schneider will continue his collegiate playing career at Pittsburgh after leaving UCF. No reason was given for Schneider’s decision to leave the Knights, although a logjam at his position would be a good place to start.
If/when the transfer comes to fruition, Schneider would very likely be forced to sit out the 2016 season to satisfy NCAA transfer bylaws. Beginning in 2017, Schneider would then have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
As a true freshman last season, Schneider stared three games for the Knights after starter Justin Holman, who returns in 2016 as a junior, went down with an injury to his right (throwing) hand. In eight games total, Schneider completed 54-of-105 passes for 534 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Schneider struggled with turnovers, though, as he threw seven interceptions that contributed to a passer rating (85.7) that was 124th in the country.
Schneider was a three-star member of UCF’s 2015 recruiting class, rated as the No. 25 pro-style quarterback in the country.
