Not even a week after West Virginia wide receiver Travares Copeland left the program citing “personal reasons”, the school has announced another departure that further thins the group’s receiving unit.
Dana Holgorsen said Monday that Ivan McCartney has also departed the program for “personal reasons” and would not elaborate further. McCartney, a four-star receiver from WVU’s 2010 signing class, did not travel with the team to Oklahoma State this past weekend.
McCartney, a junior, had nine receptions for 112 yards on the season and no touchdowns. A talented receiver out of Miramar High School -- he was a high school teammate of WVU quarterback Geno Smith -- McCartney never lived up to the potential.
