Star Irish WR Michael Floyd arrested for DUI
After a serious flirtation with early entry into the NFL draft, Michael Floyd decided to return to Notre Dame for another season. Now, reportedly, the Irish wide receiver will have to make a comeback from a very serious off-field issue as he attempts to maintain his status as one of the top pass-catchers in the country.
WNDU-TV in South Bend is reporting that Floyd was arrested early Sunday morning for driving under the influence. Floyd was arrested at 4 a.m. on campus by a university police officer, and released seven hours later after posting a $500 bond.
No further details of what led to the arrest have been made available at this time, and the school has yet to comment on the incident.
This is Floyd’s second alcohol-related arrest in a little over a year; in January of 2010, Floyd was arrested for underage consumption of alcohol after admitting to police that he had done “a couple shots” earlier in the night. He was found with blood on his hands, feet, and shirt.
Last season as a junior, Floyd led the Irish with 79 receptions for 1,025 yards and 12 touchdowns. For his career, Floyd has 171 catches for 2,539 yards and 28 touchdowns.
