Starting DB walking out of Memphis

Last season, Mo Seisay started every game at cornerback for Memphis.

This fall, he’ll be plying his football wares at a much, much lower level.

Phil Stukenborg of the Memphis Commercial Appeal is reporting that Seisay has decided to transfer from the Tigers football program to the JUCO level. The paper, citing Seisay’s brother, reports that the defensive back will begin classes at Eastern Arizona in the next couple of weeks.

In a statement released by the family, Seisay said he wanted to ''thank the University of Memphis for the amazing opportunity they provided me.’' He also said his goal was to pursue his education ''and to demonstrate that my skills are worthy of another opportunity to play and contribute to a Division 1 program.’'

Seisay had been moved from cornerback to safety during the spring, which apparently played a role in the decision to move on. A relative of Seisay’s played at the JUCO institution to which he’s transferring, which played a role in the decision on his next football destination as well.

Seisay started 12 games in 2010 as a redshirt freshman and was named to Conference USA’s All-Freshman squad.
